The next upgrade to the Kaito KA-2100 (3000) which has more memories and includes SSB is rumored to be released July 1.
However, the one that many are looking forward to could be 3 months later. The 3100 is designed to include synchronous detection which is an exciting feature in a quality AM receiver, particular one with the sound producing capabilities of these units.
There was a thread recently on the Audiokarma.org FM Tuner Message Board (which I love) on indoor FM antennas. Normally I stay out of those discussions but will follow them closely but I decided to wade in this one. The post looked like a nice entry for here:
Broke down and bought the Kaito KA2100 super radio and that is in and it has been played with some. It is the best radio that I’ve ever owned and you do get a lot of radio for the money. My current favorite FM portable is the Grundig G4000A and we’ll compare the FM (and AM) on these 2 in a few days. The Superadio 3 will be thrown in the mix for good measure.
Read where the new version of the Sangean DT-200V is better than the original. The Sangean DT-200VX arrived last week and it is the best personal/pocket AM-FM radio available at any price. It is at least as good and perhaps a bit better on AM but it now has become the top FM performer as well. Reason being is it gives the reception of the wonderful Sony SRF-S84 and now has the same audio quality which is where the original version of this little wonder radio lacked. The beauty is that it has a digital frequency readout. The sensitivity and selectivity are just stunning on AM and FM.
Actually there are now several radios here to be reviewed over the next couple of weeks. I purchased 5 radios from Amazon.com that had reviews declaring them the best small radio for several reasons.

After getting the new (to me) Sony SRF-M97 the first test was a comparison with the Sony SRF-S84 which is considered among the best pocket FM receivers by those that have tried it.
An eBay purchased Sony SRF-M97 AM-FM Personal Radio arrived this morning from Hong Kong.
HDTV broadcast signals are not all the same because compression levels vary depending upon how it is received. Compression is using technology to shrink the file size or in this case the stream while trying to preserve picture quality. Compression affects fast motion the most such as sporting events or action shows.
Currently, the highest quality signal is provided directly from the broadcast TV stations over “old-fashioned” antennas. One misunderstood fact is that there is no such thing as an HDTV antenna. Antennas used in the 1950s will work just as well, if the same condition and style, as a modern antenna.
